Depop Image Requirements Overview
Depop allows up to 4 photos per listing. Since you have fewer image slots than other platforms, each photo needs to count. The first image appears in the Explore feed and search results, making it critical for click-through rates.
Image Dimensions & Format
**Recommended:** 1080x1080 pixels (square).
**Aspect ratio:** Square (1:1) is the native Depop display format. Non-square images will be cropped to square, which may cut off important parts of your image.
**Maximum photos per listing:** 4 images.
**Maximum file size:** 15MB per image.
**Best practice:** Always compose your shots as square or leave room for square cropping. The Depop app displays all thumbnails as squares — if your product is cut off in the thumbnail, shoppers will scroll past.
Photo Style Tips for Depop
**What to avoid:** - Dark, poorly lit images - Cluttered backgrounds that distract from the item - Heavy filters that misrepresent the item's color - Blurry or out-of-focus photos - Screenshots or photos of screens
**Background tips:** White walls, clean floors, and natural surfaces work well. You don't need a studio setup — good natural light and a clean background are enough.
Common Issues on Depop
**2. Poor lighting** — The #1 factor in photo quality. Dark photos reduce buyer confidence.
**3. Inaccurate colors** — Filters or poor white balance that make the item look different from reality. This leads to returns and negative reviews.
**4. Missing detail shots** — With only 4 image slots, every photo must be intentional. Show the full item, any flaws, labels/tags, and detail shots.
**5. Low resolution** — Images below 640px appear blurry on high-resolution phone screens.
Tips for Selling More on Depop
**2. Shoot in square format** — Set your phone camera to square mode to compose for Depop's display format.
**3. Natural light always wins** — Position near a window with indirect sunlight. Golden hour (just before sunset) produces warm, flattering tones.
**4. Show the item on a person** — Model shots consistently outperform flat lays for clothing and accessories on Depop.
**5. Be honest about condition** — Photograph any flaws, stains, or wear. Depop buyers appreciate honesty and it reduces disputes.
**6. Check image quality** — Use IsoPeel to verify your images meet Depop's technical requirements before posting.
