Which marketplace has the strictest image requirements?
Amazon has the strictest requirements overall. They require a pure white background, minimum 1000px dimensions, no text overlays, and the product must fill at least 85% of the frame. Walmart is a close second with similar white background and quality requirements.
Can I use the same product photo on all marketplaces?
If your photo meets Amazon's requirements (pure white background, 1600px+, sharp, well-framed), it will pass on most other platforms too. The main exceptions are Etsy (which recommends 4:3 aspect ratio and 2000px shortest side) and Shopify/Depop (which recommend 1:1 square images).
What image size works for the most platforms?
2048 x 2048px at under 10 MB is the safest bet. This meets Amazon's zoom requirement, Shopify's recommended size, and stays under every platform's file size limit. For Etsy, you may want to use 2667 x 2000px (4:3 ratio) instead.
Do I need a white background for every marketplace?
No. Only Amazon and Walmart strictly require a pure white background for main product images. eBay recommends it but doesn't enforce it. Etsy, Shopify, Depop, Google Shopping, and Facebook Marketplace have no background color requirement.
What happens if my photos don't meet the requirements?
